Under the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002, a business that trades over the internet must provide buyers with certain information before a buyer agrees to bid or buy an item. To help business sellers comply with these regulations, a Business Seller Information section will be displayed on the View Item page.
Users will have to click on an expandable link to access the seller’s contact information.
Business sellers should update their contact details in the My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Business seller preferences > Show Business Seller Information on the View Item page. If sellers haven’t already done so they will need to provide their contact details and a physical street address. Please be aware that a post office box address is not sufficient.

I’m not a business. What should I do?
You do not need to do anything. The information provision requirements under the Distance Selling Regulations only apply to business sellers.
What will happen to business sellers that don’t comply?
Business sellers who don’t comply are in breach of the law and subject to legal penalties. To find out more, we recommend that you browse the Department for Business Innovation and Skills website, particularly the Beginners Guide to the E-Commerce Regulations 2002.
