Duplicate listings policy to include auction-style listings with buy it now

We’re making it easier for buyers to find your items by reducing the number of duplicate listings in search results. In 2011 we reduced duplicate fixed price listings and saw a sales increase* across European eBay sites. Fewer duplicates mean more sales for more sellers.

From the week of 3 September, all auction-style listings with buy it now will be treated as fixed price listings, under the duplicate listings policy.

You’ll no longer be able to create multiple auction-style listings with buy it now for identical items. You also won’t be able to create a fixed price listing and an auction-style listing with buy it now for the same item.

* Based on information from eBay Finance and Analytics.

What you need to do

FROM TODAY

  • Avoid creating any auction-style listings with buy it now, if you also have an identical item available as a fixed price listing or you’re creating multiple auction-style listings with buy it now.
